Lisa Ford
Paralegal, Intellectual PropertyTwenty-seven years ago, I started my career working for a company that conducted research for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C. During my time with the company, I saw first-hand the restrictions small businesses and individual inventors face when trying to protect their intellectual property rights.
My career eventually moved out of intellectual property research and into customer service, where I learned the critical importance of building relationships with clients. I hope lessons from my time close to the USPTO, teamed with an ability to build strong, lasting relationships, will strengthen our patent law firm.
Overall, my responsibility is to supplement our patent attorney, Tara Williams. Whether I am researching prior patent infringement cases and patent valuations, or working with an inventor, I am supporting her efforts. If there is one reason why I think Tara has so much success, it is her uncompromising attention to detail. She seems to remember everything, and she leaves no stone unturned when researching her intellectual property cases.
I am originally from Maryland, and I moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2006. My husband, 3-year-old daughter and I now live in Raleigh. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time at the beach.
